SESD Wins Project of the Year Award

SESD is the winner of the 2025 Robert L. Moylan, Jr. Project of the Year Award for our Porter River Siphon Rehabilitation Project in Danvers, MA. “Following failure of a force main, the South Essex Sewerage District (SESD) began a comprehensive program of managing its critical infrastructure, including sewer siphons that convey all of Danvers’ flow beneath the Porter River through four siphon barrels. The success and tools used in this project can serve as a guide to other municipalities as they work to cost effectively maintain their infrastructure.”

This project used Cured-In-Place Pipe Lining (CIPPL) to fully restore the structural integrity of the pipelines, removing the risk of a pipe failure and potential sewage exfiltration, and providing a minimum 50-year extension of the design life. The use of CIPPL has a low environmental impact and does not require major construction or disturbance to the adjacent residents and environment. Learn more about this award-winning approach on our Projects page.
